About edRover

edRover is a new mobile application that aligns businesses’ goals with schools’ fundraising needs. The application, which can be downloaded free to an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad or a Windows Phone 7 (more platforms to come), allows consumers to direct donations from participating businesses to the school of their choice by confirming each visit to a sponsor’s location.

edRover.com also contains a charity mall that allows registered consumers to earn donations back for their favorite school program when they shop through the links on the site.

Tania Mulry, a concerned mother of three boys frustrated by shrinking school budgets, founded EdRover, Inc. and developed the edRover application as a solution to help address school fundraising challenges. She brought together an extensive understanding of business, location-based marketing, technology, school involvement and motherhood to create a win-win-win for businesses, schools and concerned citizens.

Here’s how the edRover applications work:
  • Businesses make a financial contribution to EdRover, Inc., which will be used for school contributions each time an edRover application user visits one of the business’ participating locations.
  • Schools validate their accounts by providing contact information for an authorized school, PTA or Foundation representative. EdRover, Inc. staff validates the information prior to issuing payments to the organization.
  • Consumers download and begin using the application to direct funds from participating businesses to the school they’ve chosen.
edRover takes it from there, ensuring that funds are distributed from sponsoring businesses to more than 100,000 eligible schools across the nation.

edRover makes it easy for businesses and school supporters to support local schools across the United States!

Tania Mulry and edRover

In mid-2010 Tania Mulry, a mother of three young boys, came up with a plan to help address schools’ shrinking budgets and assist businesses eager to attract more families and turn them into loyal customers.

Frustrated by the constant flow of school fundraisers – from gift wrap and cookie dough to pizza nights and raffle tickets – Tania knew there had to be a better way for businesses to support education and impact school budgets. She combined an extensive understanding of business, location-based marketing, technology, school involvement and motherhood to create a unique mobile application: edRover.

Tania recruited a team of professionals who shared her vision to develop the platform, and began the rigorous process of forming a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organization. She established a board of directors, began reaching out to potential corporate partners and obtained a list of 99,000 qualified schools across the nation.

In less than a year, Tania’s vision will become a reality when the edRover application launches in early 2011.

edRover adeptly integrates location-based marketing, social networking and solid business principles to address a really big social issue: declining school budgets. At the same time, edRover addresses the needs of businesses – driving customers and increasing loyalty. It’s a win-win-win for businesses, schools and concerned citizens.

Beginning in early 2011, the mobile application can be downloaded to an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad (more platforms are in the works) and school supporters can begin directing funds from participating businesses to the school of their choice. EdRover, Inc. will continually track each visit recorded using the mobile application and will tally the total amount of funds due to each school monthly.

edRover is designed to take the pain out of school fundraising for businesses by offering a scalable, turnkey solution to support any (or many) of the 99,000 schools across the country. At the same time, it makes it easier for parents to earn funds for their schools doing many of the same activities they already do – shopping, dining and having fun with their families.

How edRover Changes The Game

As funding resources continue to shrink, public and private schools are being challenged to find new ways to raise money for vital educational programs.

It has become increasingly difficult for schools to fundraise through traditional means, especially as potential donors are impacted by the economic downturn.

edRover brings together local businesses, schools and parents in a way that everyone wins.  Local businesses attract new customers, local schools gain a new revenue stream, and concerned parents (and others) find a new way to help keep their local schools strong.

edRover is built on the premise that everyone needs to take an active role in supporting education for the future of today’s youth and our shared community fortunes..

Created and run by a concerned parent of three, edRover is an innovative mobile application that allows parents to accrue donations from participating businesses and direct them to the school of their choice.

edRover turns families’ daily activities into donations to the school of their choice because every time a parent records a visit to a participating business using the mobile application, a pre-determined donation is directed from the retailer to the designated school.

Donations from participating businesses are earned by Rovers as they visit locations and confirm their presence using the application. These visits and donations are tracked by edRover, which sends monthly payments to ClassWish.org in the name of each user that has earned funds. The user can then direct funds to the school program or classroom of their choice.

To maintain privacy, edRover participants create unique user names and identifying personal information is kept confidential. While the application has social sharing features that help users post information about their visits to social networks or peers through email or text messages, the service can also be used completely anonymously without sharing information or location data the public.

EdRover removes the administrative burden required for businesses to contribute to an extensive list of organizations by distributing funds to a verified list of qualified schools and tracking consumers’ earned donations.
